Power Soccer hype video

USPSA is the governing body of the first competitive team sport designed for power wheelchair users.

The USPSA is the governing body for power soccer in the United States. Power soccer is the first competitive team sport designed and developed specifically for power wheelchair users. Athletes' disabilities include quadriplegia, multiple sclerosis, muscular dystrophy, cerebral palsy, and many others. The game is played in a gymnasium on a regulation basketball court. Two teams of four players attack, defend, and spin-kick a 13-inch soccer ball in a skilled and challenging game similar to able-bodied soccer.

Join the Team That’s Right for You.

Whether you want to play for fun or you want to compete at the highest levels of the sport, there’s a USPSA team for you. Our teams are broken down into three categories: conference teams, non-conference teams, and recreational. Read on to learn more about what each of these categories entails, and which might be right for you.

Conference Teams

Our conference teams represent the highest level of competition within the USPSA. There are four conferences in total, which include the Premier, Champions, Presidents and Founders. The conference system uses a promotion and relegation process to organically move teams up and down through the conferences based on their performance each year.

This season, these teams must play a minimum of 8 sanctioned games in the regular season. Conference teams that meet this requirement are eligible for post-season play at their Conference Cup Championship tournament.

To qualify, the team, players, and staff must register with the USPSA, at an annual team registration fee of $850 ($350 , plus a $500 Conference Cup deposit) due at the time of registration. Full members of the USPSA enjoy voting rights at the Annual General Meeting.

Non-Conference Teams

Non-conference teams are still competitive, just not within the conference system itself. These teams do not have a minimum game requirement for the season, but if they wish to be considered for conference level play the following season, they must play a minimum of six sanctioned games.

These teams, players, and staff must register with the USPSA. While there is no post-season cup held for non-conference teams, they are required to pay the USPSA annual team registration fee of $350, due at the time of registration. They will also be recognized as full members of the USPSA, and granted voting rights at the Annual General Meeting.

Recreation Teams

Recreational teams and programs are ideal for those who would like to host a program, but aren’t interested in playing sanctioned or competitive games. Recreational teams still receive all information and news from the USPSA, and their teams, players, and staff must register with the organization.

Recreational teams do not have voting rights at the Annual General Meeting, however, there is no fee to register as a recreational team.

What separates Power Soccer

SPORT CHAIR

You can start playing right away with your own wheelchair!

Most athletes use a sport chair completely separate from their every day one.

For more serious athletes, an investment in a Strikeforce would be an option.

GUARD

Players use a footguard that is attached to the front of the chair.

Players then use their chairs to manipulate the ball.

We have metal and plastic guards we can attach to just about any chair.

SOCCER BALL

Power soccer's ball is 13 inches.

This is done for safety as smaller balls can easily get stuck under the chair.
